AzVMA Committees and Task Forces

Current committees are:
Academy: Responsible for developing high quality continuing education programs that encompasses a variety of contemporary and scientific topics. Provides an opportunity for members to complete their licensing requirements and be recognized for educational excellence. The Arizona Academy of Veterinary Practice is comprised of AzVMA members who complete a rigorous series of continuing education courses to qualify for membership.

Public Relations: Provides public education on the scope and value of veterinary medicine to enhance the public's understanding of responsible pet ownership.

Young Leaders Advisory Council: Develops programs and services to help recent graduates with the challenges of starting out in practice and provides opportunities for them to get involved in association activities and projects.

Government Affairs: Monitors and reports on legislation proposed by local, state or national legislatures that affect the practice of veterinary medicine.

Disaster: The Arizona State Animal Response Team (ASART) mission is to increase disaster awareness and disaster preparedness within the veterinary community of Arizona. Provide coordination, communication and response capacity for county and state disasters involving animals. Aid in the development of veterinary services for county and state animal response teams both in leadership roles and in deployment capability.

Conference: Representing veterinarian, Allied and Veterinary Health Care Team members this group develops each year's Desert West Connection Conference format, event plans, and marketing and sponsorship strategies.


Current Task Forces:
None at this time. However, task forces are created as needed for the duration of the work required.


How to Get Involved
AzVMA members are encouraged to become actively involved on a committee or task force. Committees meet several times a year depending on their projects. Task Forces meet as needed to address specific issues. This is an easy way to meet other veterinarians and make a difference in the veterinary community.
